INDUSTRY MEETS MAKERS

THE GOAL
Industry meets Makers is an open innovation community building format that aims to initiate new collaboration models between top industry and the creative maker scene in order to make the resulting innovation and business potential fruitful for the benefit of both sides. The current core concept essentially consists of top industrial companies, SMEs and research organisations announcing so-called "briefings" in future technology areas such as robotics, AI, 3D printing, smart-textiles, Industry 4.0, IoT, Big Data, Blockchain, etc. and inviting innovative "makers" – start-ups, SMEs, freelance developers, designers, students and hobbyists – to solve these together with them within the framework of an approx. six-month get-to-know and co-creation period. In the desired ideal case, a successful joint follow-up project can be launched after the core term of the programme.
OUR COMMUNITY
Of course, our community does not only consist of the briefing partners and makers. A very colourful growing ecosystem has developed around them, in which all innovation drivers and supporters are welcome to get involved.
THE STATUS QUO
Industry meets Makers has been successfully implemented for 5 consecutive years since 2016 – in the first 3 years primarily in the Vienna area and from the 4th year onwards also in other Austrian provinces. The Covid-19-battered 5th year brought with it an increased virtualisation of the format, which at the same time also opened up the possibility of participants from other countries being able to join the process much more easily for the first time. This "internationalisation course" is to be further expanded from 2021 onwards by cooperating more with partners from other countries, gradually switching our written communication from German to English and, in addition to our analogue meeting and event activities, which we hope will soon be able to take place again, continuing to rely in parallel on virtual exchange formats in both language versions (German and English / we will work with synchronous interpreters).
Das Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Mobilität, Energie, Innovation und Technologie (BMK) und die Plattform Smart Textiles lädt Sie herzlich zum "Stakeholderdialog Produktion der Zukunft" mit dem Schwerpunkt „vernetzte und automatisierte Produktion“ ein. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung werden Ergebnisse erfolgreicher Projekte der FTI -Initiative "Produktion der Zukunft" einem Fachpublikum vorgestellt und diskutiert. Die Veranstaltung wird vom BMK gemeinsam mit der Plattform Smart Textiles durchgeführt. Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an VertreterInnen aus Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft und alle am Thema Produktion der Zukunft Interessierte. Aufgrund der COVID-19-Schutzmaßnamen ist die Veranstaltung auf 100 Teilnehmer begrenzt. Wir nehmen daher in einem ersten Schritt ihre Anmeldung entgegen und würden erst in einem weiteren Schritt, Ihre Teilnahme bestätigen. Launch Of European Masterclass "Innovating In Smart Textiles" Smart textiles and wearables are a major innovation frontier for the textile, clothing and electronics industries and are expected to open up attractive niche market opportunities in several sectors worth 1.5 B € in 5 years. However, the knowledge about key technologies, functional requirements and main innovation players is fragmented. Production companies and businesses might lack the technical knowledge that sits in research centres and universities, while the latter do not have the channels to produce for the industry or the end-market. DESIGNED BY INNOVATION PRACTIONERS FOR INNOVATION PRACTIONERS Textile ETP, in collaboration with TITERA, crafted a Europen Masterclass programme representing a 15-months learning journey, spanning 7 content modules for a total of 12 webinars. Leading technology developers, industry innovators and end-market experts across all disciplines of the European smart textiles ecosystem will share their insights and latest developments to enable you to realise the innovation potential in this growing field. NO ACADEMIC LECTURES, NO MARKETING PITCHES Learning is just the first step to understand what applications can respond to market demands. Professionals from companies and technical institutes can find peers to collaborate with and plan how to introduce innovative, smart textile applications in the broad range of markets: from clothing to healthcare, from automotive to smart cities. The programme is open for any company or organisation based in an EU or EU research programme associated country. The programme starts in April 2021.
